Under the prefix Alkira bred and exhibited Siamese later expanding this programme to include Orientals, Abyssinians, British Shorthairs and finally Cornish Rex with many show successes with this breed. She became fully qualified to judge Shorthairs in 1978 and Longhairs in 1995 and throughout her life Val maintained an active involvement with all aspects of the Cat Fancy.
